Skin Detoxing

Sometimes your skin needs a break from all the harsh chemicals in daily products or sometimes just your junk food/alcohol intake.

According to Optima Dermatology a skin detox is often described as a way to remove impurities like toxins, dead skin cells, and pollutants from the skin, supposedly leading to a more radiant appearance. 


The body is designed to clear out waste, so you’re technically always undergoing a detox. Toxins can’t exit the body through the skin, and there isn’t really a way to speed up your body’s detoxification process, despite what some creative marketing around juice cleanses may tell you. But you can influence your skin’s appearance by making smart choices about what you put into your body.

Refreshing your skincare routine can help you do more for your skin if your current routine is leaving something to be desired.




Some ways I take a break from harsh products are:

  • Exfoliating once or twice each week with Skin Fix exfoliating pads.

  • Applying sunscreen on no makeup days. (Cerave)

  • Use a skincare product with ceramides such as Ordinary products.

  • Staying hydrated with lots of water intake.

  • Refreshing your skincare routine by throwing out old or expired products monthly.

  • Skin detoxing can strengthening your skin’s barrier to protect it from the sun, dirt, grime, and everything else, so it remains healthy, radiant, and smooth.
