Deep Conditioning:

A guide

Strengthening damaged hair and preventing breakage by using a conditioner with ingredients that absorb into the hair strand.

How To Deep Condition:

Apply the deep conditioner throughout your hair and then cover your hair with a shower cap. Use a warm towel to wrap the hair, heating cap, hair steamer, or an over head dryer to let the deep conditioner soak into the hair follicles.

The Conditioner I use

Why does your hair break so easily?

You are at higher risk for fragile hair if:

Hair follicles in most afro-textured hair are shaped like an oval, giving way to many possible breaking points along the hair shaft. This results in hair curling and twisting when coming out of the scalp.

To prevent future hair breakage, consider the following hair care tips:

Wash and condition your hair weekly, but gently.

  1. Use a swimmer's shampoo and conditioner set after going to a pool.

  2. Try to let your hair air dry when possible.

  3. Make sure all weaves and extensions are light so they don't pull on the scalp.

  4. Focus on your ends, apply deep conditioner to the ends of your hair to avoid spilt ends.
